Easter Sunday 2007 - The nights have been extremely cold and windy lately - row covers and ice protect the the flowering plants that are susceptible to frosts and freezes.
All through the night we have been working hard to cover the plants with a thick layer of ice. These pictures are taken late in the afternoon the following day!
We have been having many sleepless nights, guarding the strawberry blooms from the frost.
We spray water on the plants to form ice which protects the blooms from frost. The coldest time is at day break.
So far, we have been able to protect the strawberry blossoms from frost damage but hope that those cold nights soon end.
Pipes for the sprinkler system are placed out in the field.
