Spring in the fields

Early April 2007 Many seeds are already in the ground: lettuce, kale, broccoli, all nicely covered to protect the seedlings from the cold weather.

The onions have already been planted and some sprouts look up through the openings in the protecting cover.

Sweet corn has been planted and covered for protection.

This is a "resting" field where wheat is now growing to prepare the soil for the next crop of vegetables.

The spinach seeds were in the ground last October - it looks like there will be spinach for the first market!
